You've seen the movie The Pianist, haven't you? Well, as always, the book is, better! Not in the sense that it's so wonderfully good, but in the sense that the author, Wladyslaw Szpilman, brings alive in a very personal way, since he lived them, the horrors of World War II, especially for the Jews. It is, as The Wall Street Journal puts it, "Stunning...filled with unforgetable incidents, images, and people." It's another book, NOT for the fainthearted, very graphic in his descriptions. I had a hard time putting it down!
