There is a Redeemer

Here I am on Tuesday night putting my poem up for Wednesday morning. Things get too crazy in the mornings, evenings are quiet around here!

Melody Green wrote a beautiful poem and Keith Green put it to music. You may be very familiar with this poem/song. I was really surprised when I read that Melody wrote it! Wow! I don't know if I have it all here, but what IS here is beautiful and very meaningful. She said about it: "One song I'd written five years earlier did make it on the album (the Songs for the Shepherd Album) - it was called "There is a Redeemer." Keith loved it, but he thought it might be a little too short."

THERE IS A REDEEMER

By Melody Green

There is a Redeemer,
Jesus God's own Son!
Precious Lamb of God,
Messiah,
Oh, Holy One!

To quote Melody again: "The chorus offered a simple thanks to the Father for giving us His Son. Keith wanted to add another verse. I was amazed at the way he could pull words out of the air. In a few minutes of work, he sang them for me:"

When I stand in glory
I will see His face.
There, I'll serve my King forever
In that holy place. . . .

If anyone remembers the chorus, send it along, OK?

Now you did it! I'm going to have to dust off my Keith Green files in the MP3s!

It goes:
Thank you oh my Father,
for giving us your Son.
And leaving your Spirit 'til
The work on earth is done.

but of course it doesn't sound right just said out loud, it needs to be sung! In his one and only Keith Green voice!

Love you, mama

Thanks! Yes, it's coming back to me, and I've been looking for some Keith Green tapes around here, but haven't found any yet! I did find a music book with some of his songs - maybe I'll dust off the piano and try some of them! I'm sure I won't sound a whole lot like him though!!
